This New York City favorite is a great representation of its namesake, full of dark menacing flavor enveloped in a soft smoke and slightly spicy finish. Gotham is our interpretation of a French roast style, for those who prefer the serious depth and grit of heavy roast flavors.
The secret to a coffee like this is in the roast. Our roaster has worked tirelessly to find the perfect way to balance the development of the coffee bean during roasting in order to achieve just the right amount of spice and smoke without being overpowering. Hitting that dark, sweet spot is a balancing act of flame, air, and time —- too much or too little and you simply have burnt beans. Another trick is to use harder, more dense coffees, which are better able to stand up to this type of roasting. We could not be more pleased with the way these coffees come together in this celebration of the roasting craft.
Hello Irving Farm People! I got a taste of your coffee through Craft Coffee a few months back. Your Gotham Dark Roast was the best coffee I've ever tasted in my entire life. And this is coming from a dude who wakes up 20 minutes early every morning to make my Chemex coffee of the day. I've told all of my new york friends about your coffee. Thank you for creating such a great product. Please open a store in Chicago.
I have purchased Gotham blend multiple times in the past. This time I am just not loving it. It could be the batch...but more likely it might be that as I am developing my coffee palette, my preferences are changing. Right now I am enjoying the El Salvador coffees much more. Don't get me wrong...everything from Irving Farms is exceptional, though!
Gotham Roast used to be my favorite coffee! Something has changed in the roast or blend. Its not as flavorful or as full bodied as it used to be. Bring the original Gotham Roast back, please!
This blend is rich and wonderful. It used to be all that I bought until I branched out and started trying single origins. But...it is still one of my favorites!
I love this bold coffee. It really speaks to my...you could say I am in love so much that I am ordering several bags each month into Memphis!
Without being bitter or overbearing, Gotham is our coffee of hands down favorite. It is strong, bold, hearty but not bitter or harsh. We brew it for guests all the time to rave reviews and have some friends who stop just stop in for coffee.
71 Irving used to be my favorite, but Gotham Dark has taken over. Even better than what I thought was the perfect coffee!
Gotham dark roast coffee has become my "go to" cup each morning. It has a rich, full flavor that's on the strong side, but still very easy to drink. I'd recommend it--you can't go wrong!
Available for limited times in small quantities, our carefully curated micro-lots are single origin coffees at their purest. Not only are the beans sourced from one farm, they're sourced from one micro-lot of land on that farm, ensuring a highly consistent flavor and experience. This is a wonderful way to sample the true, amazing potential of coffee. We've selected these lots despite their small quantity because we see something in them that's truly special--and we think you will, too.
True to their name, single origin coffees consist of beans sourced from a farm or community in one, specific region. Seasonal selections from around the world, our line of single origin coffees focuses on the highest quality product from coffee producers who take their work as seriously as we do.
