This blend was created as the hallmark coffee for our original cafe at 71 Irving Place. The challenge of creating a coffee we'd dream of drinking every day was a daunting one, but we have fallen in love with this smooth combination. We selected high grown washed coffees because they are distinctly clean and snappy, and roasted and blended them to add body, sweetness, and depth. The specific coffees in the blend change throughout the year based on availability, in order to maintain the consistent, graceful flavor profile we've come to love in this blend.
Currently, we are roasting the coffees separately so that we can have a more dynamic range of flavors. Taking some into second crack to develop more body as well as nice chocolate and malty flavors. With the others we end the roast just before second crack to preserve the beautiful crispness and balance the blend. The result is a comfortable cup of coffee perfect for drinking any time. No small wonder it is a favorite of our customers at 71 Irving, and throughout the city.

The 71 House Blend is my basic daily coffee, served black. It has a pleasant aroma and is very smooth with no aftertaste, yet has a classic body that distinguishes it from other coffees from high volume suppliers. Roasted fresh and always consistent.
this coffee is my daily go to! I love really bold coffee, too...like the Gotham blend, but this Irving Farms signature coffee never disappoints me at all! The blend is perfection! I dream of it as my head hits the pillow each night! (okay, I am a freak!)
